Four ways to run a repair voucher program
Whether you're a city, a brand, an insurer or a manufacturer, there's more than one way to fund and run a repair voucher program. Here are the four we see most often.
1. City-funded citizen voucher
Publicly funded, means-tested or open to all residents. Vouchers cover a share of the repair cost at accredited local repairers. Best for reducing e-waste at a municipal level.
2. Brand-funded post-purchase voucher
Manufacturers or retailers issue vouchers with the product — turning warranty and R2R obligations into a positive customer moment.
3. Insurance-embedded repair-first claim
Insurers route eligible claims into a repair voucher before replacement — reducing payouts and environmental impact simultaneously.
4. Community / repair café voucher
Grant- or sponsor-funded vouchers redeemed at repair cafés and community spaces.
